HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Greetings from Straight Talk Ministry,
As you prepare to embark on your Thanksgiving holiday with family, purpose in your hearts to stay present in the moment. Enjoy one another wholeheartedly and remember to give thanks that you have been given another opportunity to celebrate with each other once again. Don't allow any distraction, pettiness, or comparisons keep you from remembering why you have come together in the first place. Life is short. Take this time to express your love for one another as if there aren't any barriers standing in the way. Dr Seuss stated, "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory." This moment is priceless. You've never had it before. Maximize it. You'll be glad you did!

HAVE A BLESSED AND WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!!

Trust your own instincts, go inside, follow your heart. Right from the start. Go ahead and stand up for what you believe in. As I've learned, that's the path to happiness.

Releasing Control

All of us have to deal with fear some time or the other. But when fear emerges in our hearts, it feeds our doubts. And before we know it, we're attempting to control things to get our fear under control. We must learn to respond to fear with faith. Below are a list of scriptures that will help. Be Blessed!

*2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

*Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strenghthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

*Philippians 4:6-7 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Stay True To Yourself

Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learn. Work hard, and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you. These are not cliches but real tools you need no matter what you do in life to stay focused on your path.

Enjoy Your Life

Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.

Words Of Encouragement

Don't let a temporary emotion cloud your judgment!

Never make a permanent decision based on a temporary storm. No matter how raging the billows are today, remind yourself: "This too shall pass!"

The Goodness Of The Lord

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
                                                            Psalm 23:6

Back in early 2017, I developed a cough. In the beginning, I thought I was getting a cold. Because I am not one who likes to take medicine, my first choice of remedy was to start taking Vitamin C. The cough subsided a little, but wasn't completely gone. It wasn't a bad cough or a chronic cough (just one of those cough you have when something is in your throat), so I continued life as usual. By May, the cough had developed so bad that it became difficult to breathe. My husband rushed me to After Hours Care where I was admitted immediately(we were 45 minutes away from After Hours Care-God's goodness and mercy). I was given several test and breathing treatment throughout the night. I was released the next day (God's goodness and mercy) with inhalers and antibiotics and a diagnosis of Bronchitis. All the tests I received that day and months to come, came back normal (God's goodness and mercy).

Because the cough continued to come back periodically and I am a person who does self-evaluations, I began to process all the things I was doing. I discovered that the cough was related to stress. Carrying the burdens of others was literally making me sick. I had taken on so many responsibilities that I hadn't taken time for myself. Had I not developed the cough, which forced me to slow down and release some things I was doing, who knows what the outcome would have been (God's goodness and mercy).

Fast forward to now. God's goodness and mercy was with me the entire time. He took care of me even when I wasn't taking care of myself. He gave me time to heal, time to be restored, and taught me the importance of balance. I have purposed to rest/relax-to take care of myself so that I can continue to serve in my purpose. My hope is that you learn from my story and recognize when stress is causing harm to your health. Though God's goodness and mercy is with us, let's not take it for granted. Let's do our part, working with God as a team so that we may have the abundant life He said we could. Be Blessed!
