...For unto whomever much is given, of him shall be much required...
Have you ever found yourself asking God for more? More money, a promotion on your job, a bigger house, a newer model car. Only to get these things and find that they are just as much a burden as waiting to obtain them.
The above scripture says that the more we are given, the more we are expected to give. I don't know what your take on this is, but here is mine.
The more money you have, the more problems you have-higher taxes, family/friends expecting you to be their personal bank, even distance relatives expecting a handout (just to name a few); the promotion on the job comes with more responsibilities, higher expectations; the house comes with a bigger mortgage and more rooms to clean, and lawn to maintain; the car comes with higher maintanence/service fees, higher note, among other things.
Upon my revelation of this profound knowledge, I have learned to not ask God for more stuff, but the wisdom it takes to be a good steward over what He has already given me, thereby developing contentment with the things I already possess. I have found it to be less stressful and it has given me the opportunity to develop an attitude of gratitude as well as maximize every gift that has been given to me before asking for something else.
What about you? What are your thoughts on this subject? I would love to read them. Be Blessed!
