Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Back in early 2017, I developed a cough. In the beginning, I thought I was getting a cold. Because I am not one who likes to take medicine, my first choice of remedy was to start taking Vitamin C. The cough subsided a little, but wasn't completely gone. It wasn't a bad cough or a chronic cough (just one of those cough you have when something is in your throat), so I continued life as usual. By May, the cough had developed so bad that it became difficult to breathe. My husband rushed me to After Hours Care where I was admitted immediately(we were 45 minutes away from After Hours Care-God's goodness and mercy). I was given several test and breathing treatment throughout the night. I was released the next day (God's goodness and mercy) with inhalers and antibiotics and a diagnosis of Bronchitis. All the tests I received that day and months to come, came back normal (God's goodness and mercy).
Because the cough continued to come back periodically and I am a person who does self-evaluations, I began to process all the things I was doing. I discovered that the cough was related to stress. Carrying the burdens of others was literally making me sick. I had taken on so many responsibilities that I hadn't taken time for myself. Had I not developed the cough, which forced me to slow down and release some things I was doing, who knows what the outcome would have been (God's goodness and mercy).
Fast forward to now. God's goodness and mercy was with me the entire time. He took care of me even when I wasn't taking care of myself. He gave me time to heal, time to be restored, and taught me the importance of balance. I have purposed to rest/relax-to take care of myself so that I can continue to serve in my purpose. My hope is that you learn from my story and recognize when stress is causing harm to your health. Though God's goodness and mercy is with us, let's not take it for granted. Let's do our part, working with God as a team so that we may have the abundant life He said we could. Be Blessed!
